This chapter presents alternatives for technē and bíos that will require the reconstruction of technē as a practice for configuring different forms of life, through an examination of the works of Michel Foucault. It provides an affirmative practice of attention and play instead of a thanatological technē—a different perception of technē that is not linked to a defense of the self but rather acts as an opening toward the relational. In addition, the chapter details an exhibition of the practice of bíos and how it can be the focal point of advancement towards what Friedrich Nietzsche calls a “planetary movement.” The subject of attention and play, through the practice of bíos, moves beyond good and evil, beyond true and false in Foucault’s terms, and beyond mastery of the self by the self.Less
