Conservatives viewed women's submission in ecclesial matters as equal to women's submission in domestic matters. This chapter demonstrates how conservatives used women's roles as a primary means to determine otherness and power. It first examines the 1984 resolution and the 1986 Glorieta Statement as representing a turning point in the contest. After considering women's ordination as a local church conflict, the chapter demonstrates how women's ordination functioned as a test case for fellowship, employment, and funding for mission boards.Less
