This chapter describes the career and teaching philosophy of Nina Novak. Born in Warsaw, Novak joined the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo in New York and quickly became world renowned as a classical ballerina. In 1964, she founded her own school and company in Caracas, Venezuela, and is the recipient of the Francisco de Miranda First Class Medal of Honor (Venezuela), the Commendatory Cross of Honor (Poland), and UNESCO's Vaclav Nijinsky Medal. Novak also served on the 2002 and 2006 juries for the USA International Ballet Competition, and defines ballet technique as created and established by the French School.Less
