The authors conclude the book by taking stock of what has been learned about the process of religious nurture. The chapter returns to the four theoretical perspectives introduced in Chapter 1 and discussed at various times throughout the book. These are cognitive transmission, embodiment and habitus, minority defence and the role of religious organizations. The authors argue that all four perspectives are needed to explain the development of a Muslim child’s religiosity and the relative success of religious nurture in Muslim families. The final chapter also considers the implications for public services of how children are brought up to be Muslims in practice.Less
