This chapter focuses on the inclusion of refugee pupils. The authors report on how the development of different forms of social capital impacts on the education of pupils from refugee families, in one primary and one secondary school, each of which has a Glasgow Asylum Seekers Support Project unit. The authors conclude that while the schools offer secure environments for such pupils through the conscious development of bonding and bridging social capital within the school, they were less successful at fostering bridging social capital within the local community and also limited in their success in developing linking social capital for young people.
